Funky town with fruity elements. The wood aging hits the tongue in the after taste kinda roughly if you are not ready for it. The blackberry flavor has depth. Very nice.

L: pinkish purple with a white head that quickly dissolves into a thin film
S: blackberry jam with lemon zest
T: blackberries, green apple, lemon, hay, yeast, sweet tarts
F: tingly, tart, and dry
O: excellent. The light saison, the blackberries, the barrel, the funk it all counts together in a delicious satisfying beer

Pours a pinkish foamy bubbly 1/2 finger head with good retention and light lacing, slight hazy cranberry reddish auburn color
Nose brings more tart funk, similar sour as the typical Springdales, with sweet candy malt notes but big souring bacteria and funk, some some tart blackberry and generic sweet berry
Taste brings sweet malts and candied blackberries out front, as well as some generic berry, but also plenty of funk, acidic souring bacteria but not a ton of funk, lacto creamy funk as well as others, a bit on the lighter side overall, drier but slight sticky and acidic flemmy notes
Mouth is med to lighter bod, feels a bit thin for some reason, fair acidity and higher carb
Overall not bad, not as good as most of the other sours, feels light and thin, doesn't have as much complexity either

Tasty, sour. More tart berries than red wine. Not getting much farmhouse/yeast.

Springdale Barrel Room "Melange De Mures"
16.9 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, seemingly without production codes or freshness dating but labeled "01861"
$12.99 @ DeCicco & Sons, Brewster, NY
Notes via stream of consciousness: "Aged minimum1 year", "sour saison aged on blackberries". It's poured an interesting purple color beneath a pink head, and it's very hazy - I should have given it more time to sediment in the fridge, I'm sure it would have cleared. The head retention is extremely limited and there's no lacing left behind but that's common for sour beers. The aroma suggest sourness, oak, fruit, and a slight bit of funkiness (leather, straw). It's rather interesting and enticing. The flavor follows pretty closely. It's quite tart, and the blackberries come through clearly. The oak remains, and some of the mild funk. I wish it was funkier, but it's still good. Minimal bitterness but still very dry in the finish with some acidity. Light bodied and gently effervescent in the mouth but with more bite from the acidity. Fruity. I'm surprised at how clearly the blackberries come through. Really nicely done.
