this was easily the best of the several beers we had in here, with a tip of the cap to the pumpkin spice latte lager, and the only one from the bottle that we tried. cool little stubby brown glass bottle, with some thick white foam rising out of it by the time the server got it to the table. a bright summery yellow color to it, soft cloudiness, tons of bubbles and a high rising and lasting white head, even in a shaker pint, looks very much the part, fizzy and belgian looking, pretty and even delicate. aroma is lightly spicy, more than just generic saison yeast to me, perhaps a little secondary ferment in the bottle to add complexity, it seems well conditioned and professionally done right away, hints of floral bitterness, white wine, and white pepper, pleasant and distinct enough. the flavor is about the same, and i really like the fermentation profile overall, layered for a clean saison, although quite subtle. peppery and grassy through the flavor, fluffy wheaty texture, effervescent carbonation, and real dry at the end, faint astringency as it winds down. i think a really nice example of the style and a very drinkable and satisfying brew, killer with some spicy chicken wings but i would drink a bucket of these on their own too. hands down the best and most compelling beer i drank at strap tank, not even close. bravo!
