The Judy is a rustic saison ale (brewed with lemongrass and rose hips) that we aged in Chardonnay barrels along with peaches and a mix of Brettanomyces cultures.

A small gush when the bottle was opened. A clear gold color with a white head that vanished.
Aroma was fruity, floral, and a little bit funky.
Peach and lemon taste. Floral. Sour.
Mildly sour, light-bodied.
Nice enough, nothing special.

So....Steel Bender's first (solo) bottle release, a brett saison with lemongrass, rose tips, peach and aged in Chardonnay Barrels. First impression is, "Oh shit...it's a gusher, I hope I can salvage some of this beer!" Fortunately, I saved just over half my bottle. Pours hazy yellowish golden with a thick white head. Aroma is nice, lemongrass heavy, some funkiness fromt he brett, peach, and I think I want to smell rose tips but not sure if my mind is just playing tricks on me because I know its an ingredient. It probably is. Oak is hiding in there as well, but I have to look to find it. More like it blends into the beer, not that is it weak in presence. Flavor is lemongrass and peach with light funkiness. A little sweeter than I care for, which is probably to be expected in a peach beer. Not sure I notice any Chardonnay or oak in flavor, even when looking for it. A medium body, active mouthfeel with a dry finish. Overall, solid beer from these guys. I also like how they opted for smaller packaging with their beers so the purchase price is aligned with my spending habits.
