This popular kettle sour is inspired by the Napoleon. Not the famously undersized general, but rather, the flaky, cream-filled pastry. We began the process with a wheat heavy grain bill which we ran off and kettle soured before boiling with lactose, a milk sugar. We then added a ridiculous quantity of pure raspberry puree to the fermentation and let it all bubble away until the flavors developed and the yeast was finished. What resulted is a fantastically fruit-forward brew with a raspberry aroma, striking appearance, and a refreshingly sweet/tart finish. We had fun with this one!

my first beer from these guys, not even sure i had ever heard of them before this can, but wow, what a great kettle sour, the intensity of real fruit is what makes it, clean souring too though, and just a bit of lactose to soften it and round it out, very impressive, and i appreciate the use of a quality fruit product rather than a cheap and cloying flavoring, high authenticity here, and thats important, summery and good, not too sweet or overdone in any way despite its boldness, smart recipe and professional execution for sure, and now im eager to try more of their stuff. electric pink this one, loaded with raspberry color, some haze and body to it, short headed but with lots of lively carbonation. it smells like ripe real raspberries all smashed up, tart as it is sweet even before the souring, juicy and summery, simple really, some wheat back there but the grain isnt really a factor for me in the nose or the taste, lemony lactic souring, trace vanilla but not desserty, even with the milk sugar added, all fruit, very authentic. the flavor is the same way, raspberry first, middle, and last, and its delicious, nothing fake about it, tartness is gorgeous, idea with the modest sourness level of the base beer, drinkable in volume, which is not super common with these, well done there. lactose enhances the fruit rather than running over or neutralizing it, tastefully dosed, adds a little body too which plays nice with the wheat this is built upon, more body than flavor from grain in this. sliced lemon and its pith, raspberry jam just due to intensity, seeds and all, subtle marshmallow, but quick enough on the swallow to still be somewhat refreshing, rushing bubbles help with that. delicious beer overall, raspberry juice. i see online that they do a double version of this, would absolutely love to get my lips on that one! impressed with this, will seek out more steel bender beer...

Had this on tap poured into a shaker pint. Sort of a dark hot pink color with good head and lacing. Raspberry smell and taste. Taste like a good raspberry lemonade. Not too tart but pleasantly so. Very easy beer to drink. Drinking it in honor of a friend who just discovered sours!

it's not too tart and doesn't have an overwhelming cough syrup/artificial taste like some fruity beers have so it's a nice balance and a pretty good beer.

Intensely red colored ale with a small pink colored head. ZIt does look more like fruit soda than a beer.
Smells of raspberry and malt. Strong fruit scent and a bit of a light caramel scent. Think peanut brittle caramel and not the Brach's candy type. It says on the can it is a Kettle Sour, but it doesn't smell sour.
Starts out tart raspberry. This is a good choice if you like your fruit on the sour side instead of sweet. Little bit of sugar, but this is mostly sour raspberry. No bitterness or hop to make a note of.
Mouthfeel is average.
Overall a sour fruit beer.
