Thanks, Chad!
Got this as part of a nice haul from Chad on his latest work trip to San Diego. Revision only makes good beer so I was super excited to get this. He gave this to me the day after he bought the crowler, but I was unable to try it eight days later (seven days after I got it). Looking it up 50 percent of the proceeds will help victims of the fires in Sonoma County. Description on Untappe read, “This West Coast DIPA features a clean malt bill with Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe and a pinch of CTZ.” My three favorite hops (Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe) and some CTZ. Nice.
Poured a gold clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy off-white head. Some fast moving bubbles coming up the middle of the glass. Very good uneven lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.00)
First thought on the smell was clean malt bill is right. It seems to actually even be taking away from the hops somehow. For hops got Simcoe, Citra and Mosaic in order, but neither really dominant. Also black pepper, orange, nectarine, pine, juicy peach and floral. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted not quite as good as the nose. Definitely seeing that clean malt bill that was mentioned. Maltier than I expected. Spicy Simcoe, bitter pine, nectarine, Columbus, Citra, peach, blueberry, earthy orange rind and hints of Mosaic. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00)
Just a solid West Coast IPA. Glad I got to try it. (Overall - 4.00)
