Collaboration with Bike Dog Brewing Company and Claimstake Brewing

Everybody starts somewhere. For most professional brewers, that somewhere was a kitchen, garage or backyard. Home brewing gave birth to thousands of professional brewers, like Pete from Bike Dog, Brian and Mike from Claimstake, and Jeremy and Jeb from Revision. Yep, back in the day when boiler BTU’s were measured in propane burner flame height or kitchen stove dials, when chilling capacity was measured in ice cubes. The combination of art and science, the satisfaction of making something by hand, and the thought of a tasty beverage sparked a flame that still burns.

This beer helps bridge the divide between East and West Coasts; a very hoppily flavorful Double IPA with a smooth malt base while still clear. Brewed with Citra, Amarillo, El Dorado and Mosaic hops and Golden Promise malt.

16 oz can from Longs. Medium golden, mostly clear, foamy head subsides. Aroma starts out fruity and then goes funky, lemons. Taste is a combination of dank and fruty, sweet and funky. Citrus zest. Smooth. A little bit of everything.

Thanks, Bill!

Got this from Bill at the 2019 Firestone Invitational in one of our beer exchanges. Was looking forward to it because Revision always kills it. Really the collab partners didn’t matter to me here. Can description was, “This beer helps bridge the divide between East and West Coasts; a very hoppily flavorful Double IPA with a smooth malt base while still clear. Brewed with Citra, Amarillo, El Dorado and Mosaic hops and Golden Promise malt.”

Poured a light amber clear color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass at different speeds. Decent watery lacing. Decent retention. (Sight - 3.75)

Smelled candied El Dorado, Citra, Mosaic, melon, sugary peach, tangerine, pineapple, sharp white grapefruit and floral. Much of the same from the can with the addition of some earthy malt. (Smell - 4.25)

Taste was close to as good as the nose, but not quite. So damn sweet. Got candied El Dorado, tangerine, Amarillo, Mosaic, Citra, sugary peach, white grapefruit, floral, bitter orange peel and earthy malt. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Juicy, sweet finish. (Feel - 4.25)

Outstanding overall. Probably wouldn’t need a 4-pack of this, but was nice to try one can. (Overall - 4.00)

Canned 04/19/19

Appearance - Pours crystal clear and pure gold in color with an off-white, half finger width head that dissipates quickly, leaving a mostly barren surface with a thin ring of suds around the edge of the glass. A few small spots make up the lacing.

Smell - Tangerine, white grapefruit, a bit of peach and pineapple.

Taste - Follows the nose. Tangerine and grapefruit make up the citrusy aspect with lesser mango, while hints of peach, pineapple and a trace of dank liven it up. Faint bready undertone.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with low-to-moderate carbonation. Slick, smooth delivery makes for an easy, slightly dry finish.

Overall - Hop profile is nice, but malts are simple in their breadiness; a bit of caramel would really make this pop.
