lighter in color than is perhaps common in the marzen lager style, but its not short on flavor at all. this is not the kind of thing i know these guys to excel in, but they did a very nice job with a traditional lager recipe, and are showing continued competence beyond the ipa realm. a very light rust color to this, almost as yellow as it is orange, definitely on the paler end of the spectrum for the style, airy but relatively short live white head on top. this smells nice, nutty and toasty, richer than it looks to my nose, some hops in the mix too, and a very clean and quite minimal german lager yeast strain, subtle for sure. the flavor has nice balance, a little bit of hop bitterness that stands out in the dry finish. notes of fresh bread, toffee, and subtle chestnut or something, almost generically autumnal in a good way, plenty of flavor but also very light to drink, which can be hard to do in a beer like this. crisp to finish which i love here, refreshing even, a little linger on the tongue is pleasant and malty, overall a very nice beer, clearly designed for session drinking. nice.

Poured from a can ...clear straw good color with quickly dissipating white head leaving zero lacing. Nose is mild sweet malt. Taste follows with a tiny bit of hop crispness. Finish is cereal grain with a tiny hop kiss. I like this. A lot. This is not a traditional fest bier by any stretch but is damn tasty!! ...and I love the can art -looks like my late boy Rommel.....

Draft at the Taphouse. Medium golden , almost clear, small creamy, bubbly head. Rich malty, bready aroma. Taste is more of the same. Tiny crisp bite at the finish, wonderfully full and creamy.

Thanks, Bill & Kristine!
Got this from Bill and Kristine on their recent trip to San Diego. Had been really digging Oktoberfests this year, so was really looking forward to seeing in Revision could nail the style. Untappd description read, “Das Fest is a lighter, less-malty version of a traditional Oktoberfest beer so it can be enjoyed throughout the festivities. Brewed with German malt and hops, then fermented with traditional lager yeast with aromas of lightly sweet malt, this FestBier pours a beautiful, brilliant gold and is the perfect fill for your favorite stein (or glass boot!).
Poured a gold-to-amber clear color with six fingers of rocky off-white head, which thinned out rather quickly. Some bubble streams shooting up from the bottom of the glass at a fast pace. Bad spotty lacing. Average retention. (Sight - 3.50)
Smelled graham cracker, hints of cinnamon, brown bread, sweet grain, honey, caramel, Honey Wheat Thins and hay. Maltier from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose, but still really good. Got graham cracker, light cinnamon, sweet grain, honey, brown bread, caramel, Honey Wheat Thins and hay. (Overall - 4.00)
Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt finish. (Feel - 4.25)
This was different than most Oktoberfest beers, but outstanding overall. Big fan of this one. (Overall - 4.00)

Can poured into a Hofbräuhaus München stein
A: Pours golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and laces nicely.
S: Grainy toasty bready malt, floral, grassy, yeasty, faint fruity notes, and a touch of almost honey like sweetness.
T: Grainy, bready, lightly toasty, floral, grassy, and earthy undertones, fair yeasty presence, slight fruity notes, and a touch of honey like sweetness.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation.
O: Pretty solid Oktoberfest brew. Would go great with some brats.

Light golden color with a small head. Sweet smell. Described by the brewer as a lighter less malty Oktoberfest. Brewed with German malts and yeast. 18 IBUs. It’s a good lager from a great brewery. Nothing great but worth the 2.99 for a 16oz can
