The Vegetable Hunter "Strawberry: Rye Of The Tigerr"
$8 / 16 fl. oz. crowler (there's no volume listed but I measured it) from the brewery, filled on 8/21/2020 and sampled on 08/27/2020
HALFWAY THROUGH THIS TASTING I BELIEVE I'VE BEEN GIVEN THE WRONG BEER SO I'VE MOVED IT HERE. It's labeled "Double IPA 7.5%" BUT THAT CAN'T BE RIGHT...
Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a hazy, golden-peach colored body beneath a finger's width of creamy white foam. I'll call it average head retention, and what seems to be shaping up to be better than average lacing. The aroma is fruity with red berries and green apple. Is this the right beer? The flavor isn't quite giving me double IPA vibes either. It's got that same fruitiness and a light touch of acidity to it. The malt is basic, gently sweet, and grainy. It's a little woody and spicy, and dry in the finish but not like an IPA should be. Weird. It doesn't seem that bitter at all. The body is light-medium, and it's crisp so I'm pretty sure now that this is their "Strawberry: Rye Of The TIgerr" at 5.2% and not "Old Skool: Frank The Tank 7.5%" - the labels must have been switched. OK, then, let's see, what have I missed? I don't think anything, I've got it covered. So, if this really is the "Strawberry: Rye Of The Tigerr" what do I think about it? I like it. A lot. It's not super strawberry flavored, so it remains somewhat of a regular beer, and the rye adds to that. At the same time it's still a fruit beer. It's refreshing. I've drank almost the whole thing and I wish I had more.
