Canned in 8/29/22; consumed on 11/30/22
Pours a vaguely translucent, orange-copper body topped with two and a half fingers of thick, soapy, off-white foam; good head retention leaves ¾ of a finger of near-creamy cap, a moderate, creamy collar, and modest spattering of webby lacing dotted along the walls of the glass.
Aroma opens to clean minerality and an underlying lager yeast, easing with a slightly doughy trend before ceding to sweet caramel, tinges of brown sugar, and light toast.
Taste features a prickly minerality against toasty caramel upfront, while a lager yeast interlude crosses the mid-palate and notes of lightly toasted brown bread work across the profile.
Mouthfeel offers a light body and a moderate-full fluff of spritzy carbonation, dispersing a dry, wispy roast, briefly taut over the mid-palate; noncommittal texture though firming up for a clean finish.
Soft on the palate, lightly sweet, and decently composed all-around, this Märzen is perfectly drinkable, though not exactly memorable.
