Appearance: Faint and pale yellow bodied beer (prior to pouring in the yeast). Very translucent and extremely clear beer with minimal color. Opaque straw yellow body that glows (when yeast is poured into the beer). Thick cap of white head that quickly leaves the top of the beer.
Smell: Grainy / bready malt profile. Maybe a hint of rhubarb. Minerals / well water. Light citrusy tartness (think meyer lemon). Hint of oak.
Taste: Light tartness up front. About mid-drink the rhubarb develops from out of no where and continues onto the finish as a slightly juicy tasting rhubarb. Hint of rustic and dry oak character. This rhubarb character is developed so well in this beer. It tastes just like biting into fresh rhubarb! The flavor of rhubarb is not as intense as eating plain rhubarb, but the flavor is as authentic as it gets! The balance of lightly tart saison and rhubarb character is so perfectly balanced that it is quite impressive!
Mouthfeel: Light bodied saison. Carbonation is on the line between the low end of a moderate level of carbonation and on the higher end of a lower carbonation level. Either way you spin it the lightly dry finish takes the beer where it needs to be. Very sessionable saison. I could drink this frequently during warm weather; definitely a hot weather crusher.
Overall: The rhubarb is perfectly done in this saison. Only had one other Rhurbarb saison and that was by Allagash. It was really good, but this Afterthought Saison is far superior. I was very impressed and going into drinking this beer was expecting the Allagash to be better beer, but it was undeniable that Afterthought was a significantly better rhubarb saison. This is the second Afterthought beer that I have drank and I really dig what they are doing with saisons!!!

500 mL bottle. Very excited for this...
Earthy, acidic, strong rhubarb in body and finish. Tart and light fruit, and just so much rhubarb. A little variation in bottles a few days a part, but I preferred this one.

Pale pastel yellow, minimal head and lace, thing ring at the edges.
Pleasant aroma, definitely some oak, wet hay and light florals.
Tart and crisp with acidic crabapple and rhubarb gripping at the teeth.
Dry finish, light and effervescent feel, pretty light in body.
Overall it was nice and refreshing, would drink again.
Thanks to Bob for the pickup!
