Appearance: Poured with a thumb's worht of head that produced a very small amount of lacing and stuck around for a decent period of time. The body shows a lot of thin carbonation and is a nice golden color.
Smell: There's not a lot to say here, straw, grain and a hint of earth, but it is very subdued and warming didn't really help things out here. That said, I'm going to be a bit lenient here, as this style isn't exactly renowned for having powerful bouquets and there is certainly nothing off about the beer.
Taste: Starts with slight sweet straw and grain start that calms down to a more subdued grain note then rises up to an earthy hop sweet that flies only slightly too high, but does a great job of cleaning this up and leaving a mild grain aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: As started the aftertaste is mild grain, and it's pleasant and doesn't cling oddly. The carbonation is actually a bit milder then expected. The transitioning leaves a bit to be desired, as it starts with a slow decent into mildness and then juts up on the bitterness at the end.
Drinkability: Easy to drink, easy on the system, light bodied and the only barrier to putting it back is that slightly too potent ending, which honestly I think could be what keeps the beer so clean, but may only just be slightly out of whack. It's hard to say.
Final Thoughts: All in all, a great rice lager that has a bit more of a bitter kick to it to probably give it a broader appeal and offering that cleanness to the experience. I just find for a lager, it's just slightly too potent, but that's a minor complaint. I would certainly buy this beer again in the summer. Thumbs up.
