Kalle Met Den Oak was a folklore character used to scare children away from wells and swamps in West-Flanders. It is also the name of our first foray at making a beer inspired by the unique tradition of Flanders Red ales.

Kalle Met Den Oak is a strong ale that has been barrel-aged for over a year with a mixture of wild yeasts and bacteria. The malt, oak and fruity complexity of the mixed fermentation create bold sweet and sour flavours. Definitely not for children who are easily scared.

Sourced from Sterk Amsterdam.

Pours a dark reddish brown, ample lasting foam. Aromas of wet wood, apple butter, and balsamic. Similar flavors with a rich full body and moderate acidity. A big beer for the style when so many are lactic and thin. Well done.
