The Mehndi Special Reserve series is a way for us to showcase our double mash imperial stout aged in some of our favorite spirit barrels. Batch 2 was aged in Old Rip Van Winkle 10-year bourbon barrels for 16 months. The rich layers of flavor bring forward a balanced complexity that makes the union of stout and barrel really shine.

Really well balanced. Bourbon, oak, vanilla, faint roast/char, fudge. Very warming and barrel forward. Lots of chocolate. Finishes with bourbon. Well done.

On draft at More Huntley.
Really thick and dark in appearance. It looks like motor oil, really. It almost looks like there's something floating on top of the pour, but it's just so thick. Loads of barrel all over the place. Wood, oak, chocolate, vanilla... sweet, rich flavors. Hard to figure out how they get such layers of flavor with no adjuncts. And in-spite of it being so massive on the barrel and all those flavors, it's still not boozy or hot. Sipper through and through, but smooth still. Probably my favorite non-barrel aged beer from MoRE.

Jet black body with a tan ring. Huge bourbon and baker's chocolate nose, dark oak, molasses, vanillins, raisin and a kiss of leather support. Taste features a darker chocolate, bourbon, molasses, brown sugar, oak, raisin, leathers, a kiss of anise, and rounding vanillins. Feel is barrel forward, thinner than expected but lush, warm, and malty, silky smooth. Sum is greater than its parts

Released 2/16/22; drank 2/19/22 @ Hannah & Kenser's.
Black/brown appearance.
An even pour yielded a tiny tan head; almost no lace.
Dark chocolate, mild bourbon, mild oak & faint vanilla notes in the nose.
Thick, sticky mouthfeel.
Dark chocolate & faint caramel flavors up front; bourbon, oak & mild vanilla notes on the finish.
A balanced, flavorful stout. I'd have another!!
