Used motor oil black with burnt brown edges and a fluid, viscous surface that builds no head.
As thick as it looks, hefty barrel char blends with dark malt into pureed Oreo melding together bourbon and a hefty scraping of vanilla bean caviar. Returning after a few sips and a break, the nose kind of reminds me of a dark fruit barrel aged mead, while taste gives a little port with some intense dark chocolate.

500 ml bottle into a snifter. Had 9/4/22.
Pours near black and opaque, thick looking with no head and light oily lacing. Smells incredible. Aromas of bourbon, oak, leather, raisins, roasted malt, some chocolate. Mostly similar flavors- bourbon, raisins, roasted malt, oak, leather, prunes, chocolate. Smooth, a solid full body, appropriately carbonated.
Simply delicious. Amazing barrels, distinct and intense aromas and flavors that pop out, and a solid base.

Pitch black pour with a brown collar and islands. The barrels on this one are the clear stars, great depth in all aspects of the beer. The oak in particular stands out to compliment the rich booze in the nose, with the buckwheat note seeming very natural, raisin, prune and semi-sweet chocolate support. Taste has a molasses note that lifts the dark fruit up, chocolate, toasty oak, and booze are prevalent in every sip, but the buckwheat becomes the red thread running through it all which really made this stand out. Feel is warm with booziness, robust yet not super thick though heavy, chewy. Good sipper on a cold wet spring day
