Callejón del Bosque is a tremendous collaboration with our friends from Cervecería del Callejón in Puerto Rico produced for Raices Brewing's upcoming Suave Fest. Brewed with 50% of the sugars derived from Agave Syrup and fermented on a blend of two strains of Saison Yeast it is surprisingly smooth, complex with delightful fruity esters, and as dry as it gets!

Had on tap at the brewery
On arrival, about a finger of fine white head sat on top of a surprisingly light and clear golden body.
Aroma is bright, spicy, and a bit fruity with a slight boozy thing going on. It is almost reminding me of orange juice.
The taste follows the aroma, but is arguably smoother. Up front is that boozy, spicy, bright saison kick but it gives way to bready malts and a slight herbal hoppy flavor with a bit of that orange juice brightness lingering.
The feel of this beer is very well balanced for a big beer with brighter aspects. Up front it comes of as actually pretty crisp like a good IPA, but then an warmness alcohol warmness develops with a nice malty long finish. At the same time it isn't too heavy and let's you sip to your hearts content.
Overall this is a good modern American saison. I'm picking up hops, malt, alcohol, spicy yeast, and some fruity notes, but it is all layered and balanced very well. Good job!

This is an imperial agave saison, and you feel the heaviness of it despite the lightness of the fruity agave. It's pretty complex, and I might need to try it again to really get a good handle on it, but my first impression was good. It's not peppery like some saisons, and it's just a touch sweeter than most, again due to the agave. This was a cool idea and I'm glad to see someone try it.
