The bold orange-amber color gives a slight tint to the well developed and enduring head. All this observed as the contents of a pint can are now inside a clear glass Imperial pint mug. This is definitely on the opaque side. In the air, a very nice aroma of malt, yeast and hops both resinous and dank. A taste gets a much more complex hoppy character. Aided by a solid malt backbone, there's juiciness, along with a bit of alcohol and a noticeable bitterness joining the dank resins. This is the epitome of a good Double Dry Hopped Double IPA. There is much hop goodness and each sample can provide a diverse taste trip. It finishes on a dryly bitter bite and leaves some decent glass lacing. Very much recommended to hop heads.

Picked up a single from TW Arrowhead 10-21-20 for $5.99. Canned 9-22-20; consumed 2-1-20. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured a hazy orange with a very nice white head.
Nose is nice, stone fruit and citrus present nicely.
Taste is well done as usual. Large but lighter malt base allows for the peachy yeast to display front and center with the orange and grapefruit hopping taking a secondary role. Finishes with a pleasant pit and rind bitterness; 7/10 on my scale.
Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and very smooth.
Overall another very nice DIPA from Half Acre!

16oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $4.99. Canned on 9/30/2020, so this is almost 3 1/2 months old.
Look: Appearance is deep orange and quite hazy. The head dissipated to a whispy layer pretty quickly, but it appears to have nice lacing on the glass.
Smell: A lot of pungent and floral aromas. Papaya, mango, apricot, peach, and melon with dankness and woodiness in the background. There are a lot of ripe fruit aromas, which are balanced by the green dank notes. I also get a green bell pepper note on the back end.
Taste: This beer is quite a dichotomy: up front, it's peachy, smooth and fruity and the finish is super resinous pine, woody, pithy, long-lingering bitterness, and dry. Also lots of grapefruit flavors - from the rind, pith, and flesh coming through. It's definitely interesting and it totally works. It's also cool that the beer is structured this way because it's really different compared to most other DIPAs that I have had.
Feel: Mouthfeel is nothing to write home about. It's not particularly creamy. Appropriately carbonated and has a bit of an oily, slightly chewy mouthfeel. The mouthfeel works well for this type of tropical haze meets west coast double IPA.
Overall: It's certainly a well-made beer, as with everything that I have had from Half Acre. Overall, I think that I might enjoy the nose of this beer more than the taste. That being said, that taste did grow on me as I got into it more.
From the website: Kush was an early stab at attempting to hit our balance between haze kinetics and classic alpha bitterness. We selected Galaxy, Sabro, Idaho 7, CTZ and Equanot to see our way toward expressions of tropical punch bowls and newly licensed dispensaries. To be sure, it’s a full-send hazy DIPA that gets after things in a big way, but there’s a west coast IPA snorkeling around inside of it and you can taste it. You have our word.

(16 oz can, 09/30/20B; purchased as part of cold 4-pack... poured into a fat tulip)
L: egregiously-opaque, pale yellow-amber liquid; super-silken, dense, off-white foam, which remains misty in the middle and craggy in the corners for awhile; webby doily lace
S: orange-peach-fruit cocktail pancake batter, orange creamsicle overtones; excellent rich intensity and depth... grated grapefruit rind stands out, lingering longest
T: grapefruit in 3D right up front, humming through the finish; heavily floral, lightly doughy, pungently perfumy resins and sediment layering the palate, heightened in electricity by spicy hop and booze character... spicy pine amplifies less than halfway through the glass, sharp grassy bitterness prickling as well
F: creamy consistency; peppery pungency permeating the palate in the aftertaste, all abuzz... smooth smooth, body moov
O: my brother turned me onto this, suggesting it held up against his Tree House faves (some of which I was lucky enough to try, via his efforts), and while this has its unique qualities, the overall expression and intensity at least matches the TH cans, if not exceeding them in impact (booze, spicy bitterness)... they did good with this, and I'd certainly like some more thanks (1720)

16 oz. Can
Canned On: 10/01/20
Poured into a Tree House glass a very nice cloudy pale yellow/orange color, with some very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger plus off-white head, which also leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with a very nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, mango, peach, nectarine), with a pretty nice pineyness. The taste is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with a very nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, mango, peach, nectarine), with a pretty nice pineyness. Medium body, ABV is hidden very nicely, with a pretty nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a pretty tasty brew. Nice to see it around.

Cloudy, murky, yellow orange appearance. Smell is dank and citrusy. Taste is a tangy citrus with a slightly malty background. Full bodied, mouth filling, boozy. Another interesting Half Acre offering.

Picked this up recently at Gary's in Madison, as I hadn't anything from Half Acre in a while. Liked the name and label of this beer and indeed, this could have been mistaken for sailor's kush as it was quite dank and enjoyable from the get-go!
Not surprisingly, this had a golden pour to it and was quite cloudy. A full head topped this off but settled nicely although there was very little lacing left behind besides a faint hint of one about a third of the way down the side of my pint glass. Lots of Hawaiian Punch, exotic floral notes, heavy and dank fruit, and turbid hops in the nose as the taste really took off as I started to go through this. Dirty and earthy to the core, the hops were all felt in equal proportion here as this was not a juicy New England-style hop bomb by any stretch. Yeah, there's the pineapple and kumquat here that were in this beer's description along with some scallion spice and acrid lime, with a balanced body and decent amount of carbonation that kept this from feeling too heavy.
There was enough booze here but it was on par with everything else that was going on, as the hops present packed more than enough heft and never let up. Canned on 9/22 with "GOTTA BAD FEELING" written below it, this was a lovely beer that contained plenty of bud without the corresponding burn in the aftertaste, I'll be on the lookout for more from Half Acre the next time I'm out!

Really enjoyed this one. Looks like OJ in the glass, very dank punch you in the face hop bitterness, dryness that lingers. Not the typical syrupy/alcohol warming aspects of many DIPAs. It will rearrange your mouth and I love that.

Not my favorite from Half Acre, but a nice, healthy DDH DIPA nonetheless. Has the look of a NE IPA, and the taste of a good old fashioned, punch-you-in-the-mouth, West Coast DIPA.
Aromas are dirty / earthy.
Flavors are full of bitterness ... green/raw hops, pine, lime peel, and grass.
VERY dry mouthfeel keeps it from being consumed too fast.
