Half Acre Beer Company

 

Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some malts are present. Taste is of wheat, malts, light hops and citrus, very refreshing. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent and easy drinking beer.

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color and has a large column of bubbles rapidly rising from the center of the glass. It poured with a finger high bright white head that has excellent rendition properties and consistently left a half finger high head covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of wheat are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of wheat along with hints of citrusy hops.
M: It feels a bit more than light-bodied and clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has nice aromas and flavors of wheat without the raw mouthfeel and instead is very clean on the palate.

The look was pale gold and cloudy. You could definitely smell the bready malt. I could also pick up a little floral aroma. The taste was highlighted by the malt and grain. The mouthfeel was soft with a little creaminess. A very nice offering from Half Acre. A good summer beer and a nice break from all the NE IPAs.

 

I like to think this is the “bocce beer” that Half Acre makes.
Volo is in Lake County, and not especially worth naming a beer after. Some wheat in this beer is from downstate Marion County, which is neither here nor there.

Pale gold with a very light haze and rapidly rising carb trails. Ample foam, no lacing to speak of really. Patchy surface skim.

Aroma is mild, bready soft wheat and some light apple esters.
Taste is similarly mild but pleasant, bread crust, grainy wheat, light apple.
Lighter bodied with a smooth, creamy feel from the wheat. Ample carb that softens up over time and doesn’t distract.

Overall it’s a pretty simple and straightforward beer you don’t have to think much about. Allowing for more focus on your bocce game strategy on the new courts at Balmoral.

16 oz can. Pours a clear yellow color, with a nice full white head. It had the smooth malt intro from wheat, with a slight added graininess. It finished with a slightly citrusy, more piney hop profile.

 

 

16oz can, dare stamped "03/26/10 LET THE COWBOY RIDE". Chill hazed yellow-golden body with a thick creamy off-white head. Earthy & grassy aroma with mild lemony citrus and wheat. Flavors are similar to aroma with notes if mildly nutty wheat, lemongrass, earthy hops, and a bit soapy with some floral undertones on the finish. Full body, creamy and smooth, good carbonation, and a balanced finish. Good lagered wheat beer. Nothing special but very easy to drink.

 

 

 

Appearance: Pours a pale, but effervescent bubbly lemon color. Sort of similar to lemonade. A mild to medium head.
Aroma: Lemon citrus with some sweet apple, grape, and stonefruit.
Flavor: Taste follows the nose but milder. Some citrus and honeysuckle, but very little flavor overall. Finishes with a bready yeast in the mouth that dries & cleans out the palate. Alcohol is non-detectable.
Feel: Light to medium bodied. Grainy and yeast that dries out the palate.

Compared to an Alaskan Blonde ale: Almost identical. I misidentified them on a 3-way taste test. Similar lemon and honey flavors. This one has slightly more apple and stonefruit. More yeasty as well. That's really the only way to differentiate these.

Overall: A drinkable and mild wheat beer. Less flavor and wheat than I expected, but sort of expected with the lower ABV. Still, I think it could benefit from more flavor.
