16 ounce can into a snifter. Canned 10/28/19, had 1/23/21.
Pours near black and opaque, thick looking, with a flash of a head and spotty cling. Aromas of coffee, coconut, chocolate, bourbon, rum- as it warms, malt, light vanilla and raisins, light char. Coconut leads off the flavor, then rum, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, malt, some raisins. Smooth, a little creamy, a solid full body, appropriately carbonated.
Excellent. The coffee and coconut have probably faded a little, but both are still vibrant and delicious. The barrels are less prominent, but still solid and effective. Really enjoyable.

16oz tallboy can poured into snifter glass; split two ways, drank an 8oz pour.
Canned 10/28/19.
Dark black body with thick brown cap. Smells of bourbon and rum with lots of coconut and vanilla. More coffee flavor than regular Benthic, but its still supporting cast. This beer was poured at cellar temp and that was the perfect spot to drink the beer at. Thick mouthfeel, rich flavors, great balanced between the barrel notes and the coconut. This is probably the best Benthic varient that I have had from Half Acre this year. Vanilla comes in a close 2nd and apple brandy is the least of the three, but Apple brandy was no slouch either! Half Acre is killer this year. Even the regular Benthic was really fantastic.

16oz can, dated 10.28.19, poured into a Half Acre "occult" snifter glass.
The beer pours a deep jet black color, thick and viscous with a slight finger of caramel colored head that has modest retention but yields nice striations of soapy lace. The aroma is pleasant, lots of toasted coconut, assertive rum barrel, toasted oak, rich coffee, chocolate syrup with some vanilla and light toffee bourbon with a nice hearty grain base. The flavors are very nice, bursting with chocolate syrup, toasted coconut, rum barrel with a nice hint of toffee forward bourbon, vanilla, smooth coffee, hearty grains and light fruitiness. The mouthfeel is good, thick and heavy body that coats well and is very smooth with a creamy finish that is fairly warm from the booze.
Verdict: A very nice adjunct barrel aged stout from Half Acre. The coconut rum barrel and the toasted coconut really shine in this beer while the coffee and bourbon barrel offer nice layers that build out the complexity and yet from a flavor perspective the booze heat is totally masked. A very nice treat.

Canned 10/28/19; drank 12/1/19 @ the Yarchives.
Midnight black appearance.
A rough pour yielded a big dark khaki head; strong lace.
Coconut, chocolate syrup, mild oak & faint medium roast coffee bean notes in the nose.
Thick, creamy mouthfeel.
Coconut, cream, chocolate syrup & mild medium roast coffee bean flavors; mild booze heat emerged as this warmed.
Not sure this improves on "regular" Benthic; in fact, might be a step below. Worth a quaff but not worth paying up for.
