Roses Are Falling Double IPA is a concept beer aimed at Orville’s 2019 album, Pony. 12 dark country songs that discuss love, evil, death, adventure and dreams. Another run at Cosmic Punch in search of thiols. Citra, Amarillo and Simcoe and whole score of advanced hop products that land extremely cohesive. Dripping citrus, pineapple, kiwi, floral resin and a very nice Champion Juicer sensibility that makes it slide down like greased lightning.

A- appearance of peach juice filtered through cheesecloth. Bubbles so tiny they're hard to see after five minutes except for the gently draped lacing and a perpetual cap.
S- Maybe I've omicron because the main thing I smell is alcohol, which is very subdued in the palate
T- First sip presents a lot of pine, which quickly mellows into juices mostly stonefruit (including apricot, mango) and kiwifruit. For my first introduction to thiols, I detect no unpleasant sulfur (so common in hazies that they're often my last choice—are they so popular for the cannabis association?)
M- medium rich with very light oil and resin
D- highly crushable! Juicy bitter balance masks the alcohol, which I feel in my cheeks rather than on my palate.
The brewer's notes introduced me to thiols and Orville Peck: like a 21st century heir to the Cowboy Junkies echoing k.d. lang and channeling early Elvis and late Morrissey. This beer is named for one of his songs (heavily sampling Blue Moon)—did the brewer name another beer after this album?
