12 ounce can into a snifter. Canned 7/24/23, had 5/15/24.
Pours near black and opaque, with a one and a half inch darker creamy nitro head and some foamy lacing. Looks great. Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, cocoa, some bourbon, some vanilla and oak, light char, a little caramel. Mostly the same flavors, although they seem more pronounced: bourbon, chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa, vanilla, light caramel and oak, light char. Smooth, creamy, a solid full body, appropriately carbonated for a nitro that I let sit for so long.
Although I could kick myself for waiting 10 months to have this, and the nitro would have lasted longer when fresher, this is delicious. The barrels, the chocolate notes and the roasted malt all stand out. A really solid effort.

12oz can, dated 07.24.2023, poured into a stemless wine glass. Enjoyed on 08.30.2023, reviewed from Tasting Journal.
The beer pours a super deep, jet black color, viscous, crazy thick with a fluffy but firm tan head, excellent retention with an aggressive pour. The nitro really helps amplify the appearance of this beer. The aroma is bursting with barrel character, burnt oak, char, hot spirit, earthy licorice, toasted chocolate, hearty dark grains, vanilla bean and light stone fruit. The flavors are fantastic, huge bittersweet chocolate, fudge, hot barrel, earthy but sweet oak, burnt wood, charred grain, hot bourbon spirit, spicy, toasted coffee bean and coconut, earthy licorice, raisin and stone fruit with some sweet vanilla. The mouthfeel is excellent, super smooth, that nitro feel is silky with a very full body and a warm and boozy finish.
Verdict: An excellent BA Nitro stout from Half Acre. The nitro really takes this over the top, tons of depth and richness with an incredibly silky and smooth texture. The barrel is super intense and adds some much complexity to the beer.

Half Acre does a phenomenal job of spacing out big releases to enjoy throughout the year. A summer release comes in the form of Midnight Choir, nitro. The nitro travels a bit in the can but fades about halfway through. It is a thick and rich BA stout, focused on the bourbon. There is an interesting sweetness, like dark honey that flows the beer. A prime velvety BA.
