Triple Barrel Benthic Bourbon & Rye Barrel Aged Imperial Stout with Toasted Coconut & Coffee
The entire volume was aged in three rounds of barrels — Round One: Elijah Craig, Four Roses and Willett. Round Two: all Buffalo Trace. Round Three: Sazerac Rye and Russell’s Reserve. 23 months total time resting in wood. So much work sourcing lumber and carefully moving beer barrel-to-barrel to yield wonderfully giant stout. A standard touch of coconut and half the coffee we usually push, Triple Barrel Benthic will have you looking to muddle Demerara and top it all with candied Luxardos. A little spice, flaming marshmallow, a furry ape hug of brown booze and a hat tip to the barrel team.

Appearance - The beer was black in appearance with a small cluster of bubbles clinging to the side of the glass.
Small - Chocolate and grain alcohol were the focus. It burnt my nose hairs.
Taste - This was harsh. It was like drinking liquid punishment. To put it another way, it was like drinking straight alcohol with hint of beer. Maybe I only got barrel. I could not finish it.
Mouthfeel - The medium body was appropriate for the style.
Overall - This was a “no” for me.

Poured from a 12oz can into a Perennial SdC tumbler. Pours thick black with a finger of dark khaki colored foam head. Big barrel with nice spice from the barrel with chocolate and coconut. Taste follows. It’s big. Lots of barrel but smooth for the abv. Full mouthfeel. Really solid. Doesn’t drink at all like 18%.

Glossy black with a short but decently retaining tan comforter.
Woody af, it almost might as well be straight up whiskey, as a little vanillin comes out in the aftertaste.
You'd think by the look of it this would be a lot maltier but it's a powerhouse for sure.
