We brewed this German inspired ‘March Lager’ often found at the annual Munich festivities in Illinois, in July, so gesundheit to you, too! Expect a rich, bready, deeply malty beer that’s both creamy and crisp, thanks to our fully attenuative yeast strain and an ambitious mash schedule. Enjoy it in September like they do on the Wiesn!

Canned on 9/12/2023; consumed on 1/31/2024
Pours a clear, deep chestnut-brown body capped with two and a half of densely fluffy, beige-hued foam; good head retention leaves a vague layer of cap, modest, frothy collar, and steady array of spotty lacing spread around the walls of the glass.
Aroma opens with brown sugar resounding as notes of brown toast settle, centering steady, yeasty undertones into bread crusts and fresh mineralic accents.
Taste offers notes of clean brown sugar and supportive bread crusts upfront, while an underlying minerality underscores tinges of caramel malt and brown toast developing over time.
Mouthfeel brings a medium-light body and a taut fluff of moderate carbonation, yielding crisp texturing through a dry mid-palate and remaining ultra-clean through the back end and finish.
Outwardly sweet though cleanly presented, this offering cleverly eschews malted balance for a slightly more indulgent, yet somehow still inviting, take on the style.

Canned 9/1/23; drank 9/11/23 @ the Yarchives.
See-through orange/red appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice tan head; nice lacing remained.
Caramel, autumn leaf & faint leather notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Acorn, caramel & faint leather flavors.
Earthy, and maybe a bit too barleywine-ish to be a great marzen. I still enjoyed it.

A thoughtful enough interpretation of Bavaria's most popular beer celebration.
Buts Looks are average, mostly based on this garnet is not really a shade of amber. Smells are complex, malty and nutty simultaneously. Tastes follow in the attack, but the finish is too dry for the marzen which, essentially, is a sweet lager. Medium mouthed and cleansing.
I have not paid enough attention to Roaring Table, in part because probably 10% of what I drink are lagers and I already have a favorite specialist (New Glarus.) But every city should have a world class lager specialist and in a metro as large as Chicagoland, there should be a specialist in every direction of suburbs. And if Roaring Table in the specialist for the northwest suburbs, then they deserve the Overall Hugs I give them now. Prost !

Had on tap. Chestnut brown shades with a tan head and sheets of lacing. Smell and taste are reflection of each other: toasted caramel malt starts with somewhat rustic bready yeast, hints of earth, warm nuts and a hint of tobacco, with a warming malt character in the middle that is alluring. Feel is full, malt forward followed by yeast, smooth and warm with moderate chew but does thin a little on the finish. Well done, I'll have another pint please. The wife liked it

Unexpected offering this year, and canned as well!
16 oz. can into my tall becher.
L -- Clear, light copper with a dense and creamy, light tan head that holds up well and leaves great lacing.
S -- Sulfury DMS and light breadiness. Some tea or tobacco notes with warmth.
T -- Mellow herbal hops up front that fold into a soft nuttiness and light bread crust character. Finish and aftertaste are herbal bitterness. Some light doughy notes in the aftertaste and somewhat astringent bitterness lingers.
F -- Mouthfeel is soft to dry with a light medium body.
O -- With a lackluster breadiness and odd astringency, I'm a bit underwhelmed (disappointed?) -- especially if I stand this up to RT's Vienna. I wish the Märzen had a bit more malt oomph to it -- coming in at the same ABV as the Vienna is curious.
While it's certainly not undrinkable, it's just mundane in comparison to the Fest Bier and aforementioned Vienna.

Pours a crystal clear amber color. Thick frothy off-white head. Head dissolves and recedes until just a thin layer of foam remains on the top of the beer. Aroma has notes of some grainy malts, a touch of toasted malt, nutty notes a bit of lager yeast.
Taste has notes of nutty malts, light toasted notes, spicy, herbal hops, rustic bread, a touch of yeasty notes, and some mild bitterness on the finish. Feel is medium bodied, crisp, easy drinking, and rather dry. Moderate, lively carbonation.
Overall its a solid märzen from Roaring Table - I found the malts too grainy/nutty for my preference, but it's still quite well done.

Garnet tone, billowing head of foam and flecks of spotty lace all around.
Yeast dominates the aroma, slight nutty malt, toasted almonds, very dry and crisp.
Taste is well expressed with a load of nutty malt character, toasted almonds and dark bread crusts. Medium bodied, crisp and dry finish. Light malt sweetness initially that fades quickly. Moderate carbonation that carries things along well. Something about it is a little too tightly structured, hard to explain but I blame the yeast.
Overall it’s a very solid Märzen, best so far this year.
