Arise & Cease is a rad little hoppy beer inspired by Belgian grisette. Brewed with lots of oats as well as a base of floor malted English spring barley, it was well hopped in the kettle and during fermentation in an open oak tank. Like grisette, it was bottled young and served fresh.

Bottle at share . pale golden pour, bubbly head. Aroma is fruity, orchard apples andeasty funk. Taste adds some bite to the fruitiness, lemony, nice pucker and more funk.

Poured from 750mL bottle into my BeerAdvocate teku. This is the 2023 version, bottled 5/18/23.
Appearance: light, shimmery silvery-golden hue with a very light haze and a nice effervescence. Head is a finger of frothy white foam. Pretty!
Smell: a heady yet subtle blend of soft malt, farmhouse funk, and a grassy hop note evocative of springtime. My nose wants me to believe the soft malt aroma is from wheat; the label says this version is brewed with spelt. Close enough!
Taste: light and crisp at first, with a more heavy saison flavor coming through the middle. There's a good earthy funk and a hint of tartness, but it lacks the sharpness that some saisons have. This is soft and round with a grassy (in a good way) hop note, and just enough bitterness to balance the funk without the two elements being too overpowering. I really dig this beer.
Mouthfeel: lightish body with a huge carbonation from bottle conditioning yields a wonderful up-front creaminess. I am super into it!
Overall: another damn fine beer from Floodland.

750ml capped bottle. Teku glass. Cloudy golden yellow body, one and half finger frothy white head; indeed the beer started gushing slowly out as soon as the bottle was taken from the fridge and opened; but it all made it safely indeed. Good retention, islands of lacing arises on the glass. Smell is a nice complex lemon and leather medley, a bit of wet hay, fairly dry lemon zest, leathery grain. Flavour is a bit more muted; a bit of hay, wet straw, light biscuit, fairly dry and brett-forward, light acetic acidity, leathery. There is a bit of a minerally, dry finish. Medium lighter bodied, good carbonation, dry and cleans the palate right off with a decent bit of acidity that isn't overwhelming. Good balance, lots of flavour on a 4.4% beer.
