Poured from a bottle (30Jul2020) into a Belgian glass
L: pours a perfectly clear yellow gold (srm ~3/4?) with an immense and loud white head that fades fairly quickly. Tons of visible carbonation, champagne-esque
S: says tart ale on the bottle and the nose lives up to it. Quite sour, a little past the point of being enjoyable. There’s this almost vinegar note, something else I can’t quite place. Get lemon, white wine, sweet melon. Apple juice! Like Martinelli’s (sort of), with some lactic tart behind it
T: like the flavor a good amount more than the nose. That off/sharp odor didn’t really translate to the swallow - get this nice tart punch, refreshing lemon flesh/sharp apple. There’s some grassy spice to it, a bit of hay. Mostly get tart fruit, strong acidity, carries well through the medium/long finish with a grassy/dough note as well
F: high- carbonation, light+/medium- body, quite drying, grows somewhat as it’s warmed. A little harsh from the carbonation as it’s sat in the glass but not terrible, just some assertive acidity
O: a very good tart ale. Nose a little off-putting at first, either that faded or I got used to it. Those issues didn’t carry through to the swallow, quite tart and overall enjoyable
