Having this one along with the EJ Bekot version from Candia Road .... interesting to try this collaboration side-by-side with the alternate version....
Poured into a small sniftah, it's a deep, dark, nearly opaque chestnut-mahogany. Has a creamy, smooth 1/2" of tan foam up top, which ebbs back slowly, with light lacing. Nose has light roasty notes, with dark choco and cocoa powder. Body is medium, with a decent, prickle-free feel on the tongue.
Taste has more cocoa powder, with charred notes, coffee, dark choco and some licorice. Has a bit of light, earthy hops in the dry finish. Doesn't have much in the way of complexity.... mostly a simple flavor profile. Cheers!

Poured into a 16 oz Snulip glass not sure when it was canned, thinking about 60 days ago. Pours a very dark brown with a 2 plus finger lite brown head that leaves a thick wall of lace with excellent retention. 4.5
Aroma is dark chocolate, back strap molasses, char, coffee grounds, biscuit, and anise. 3.75
Taste follows dark chocolate, char, molasses, coffee grounds, biscuit, and anise. 3.75
Mouthfeel is above average, enough life, a tad dry, and at 8.2% it drinks bigger, but with the old school technique it is a sipper. 4
Overall the flavors aren’t great, I truly think it is well made, but I am not loving the taste. Old school beer lovers may love. 3.75
