Boiled for 1440 minutes. We used Proximity Pilsner malt and hopped with HBC 472 to mimic barrel characters. Notes of vanilla, bourbon and oak

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a dark orange red with a one finger light khaki head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, dates, raisins and vanilla. Flavor is dry caramel malt, raisins, figs, vanilla and faint orange citrus. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. An interesting take on a barleywine "hopped with HBC 472 to mimic barrel characters". The malt is solid English caramel, although a little dialed back in flavor depth. The hops do give some the fruit notes from bourbon, but I'm not getting much whiskey per se, nor oak although there is some vanilla like an oak barrel might impart. Fortunately no real bitterness from the hops, so sticks to the English style. A mellow caramel malt barley wine with created with in an interesting way. Quite drinkable.

From a 16oz can recently purchased at Kettlehead on Main in Nashua...
Pours a lovely, deep, clear mahogany... has steady carbo within and a creamy, 1/4" layer of foam on top, with decent lace. Nose has light caramel and semisweet action, though restrained overall. Body is a solid medium with nice smoothness.
Taste is more caramel, a bit of toffee, and subtle vanilla. Fairly solid taste-wise, though not on par with earlier 1440 versions. Cheers!!
