Poured into a large tulip
O a solid black IPA; nicely-balanced and quite drinkable; happy I grabbed it!

Boobytraps Cascadian Dark Ale from 7 Seas Brewing Company in Gig Harbor. 12oz can dated 11/04/2019. Beer pours cola brown in my pint glass and forms so much head it begins to overflow. Not much aroma to speak of, but flavor is bold and assertive with blistering NW IPA hops and a bit of a coffee roastiness from the malt. This is a strong beer, and it tastes every bit of it. Overpowering bitterness makes this a bit more one dimensional than I'd hope.

12oz can served in a snifter. Forgot to look at the date, but it's at least a few weeks old, but not two months old.
Pours black with a medium sized khaki head and medium to low carbonation. Smell is mild roasted malt and pine.
Taste is grapefruit, pine, and roast malts.
Mouthfeel is fairly light and crisp. Overall, not fantastic, but pretty good. Worth a try.

Poured out of can stamped brewed on 10/15/19 into pint glass. Very nice light brown with heavy lacing. Smell and taste indicated a well toasted malt with light hops and a fruity citrus undertone. A very pleasant ale that is quite surprising at first and I will definitely be looking for this on tap. Can artwork is very cool.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with little light transmission in the glass with a half finger dark khaki head with great retention and thick lacing. Aroma of pale malt, citrus hops, grapefruit, lemon and mild light stone fruit. Flavor is mild toasted malt, citrus and piney hops, lemon, grapefruit, pine needles; a nice piney and citrus hop finish with an interesting suggestion of fruit esters. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess, nice mouth feel. A well made Cascadian Dark Ale with a moderate, but appropriate level of dark toasted malt, nice hop bill with great NW mixture of pine and citrus and a great hoppy finish. The initial taste was a little muted for the style, but the flavors build into a very pleasant, blend of northwest hops in the finish. These guys are doing a great job with their beers.
