Crowler filled on 7/16/20
Pours a clear pale golden straw body with a casual effervescence and is capped with ¾ of a finger of airy, off-white foam; poor head retention (likely a product of a 2-week old crowler) yields a thin layer of frothy cap, which in turn fizzles as quickly as the head itself; minimal collar and lacing left behind, which I again suspect is a product of time in the crowler. All things considered, a pleasing-looking light lager.
Aroma shows fresh, biscuity grain with a backing of honeysuckle upfront as touches of gritty straw ease into a dirty minerality on the middle; a highly floral back end develops, and is detailed with hints of corn to round out a soft sweetness to the bouquet.
Taste features a dense combination of light biscuit malt, wet wheat, and grassy hops upfront, steadying to vague honey into hints of Graham cracker over the mid-palate; a clean, slight metallic character fades away on the back end as an oily malt character meets touches of corn and more refined wheat tones on the finish.
Mouthfeel has a light body and a fluffy, high carbonation, effortless and well-attenuated on the palate; a snappy, crisp mid-palate phases effortlessly to a soft gritty texture spread across the back end and easing into an ultimately clean finish.
A light lager with no shortage of character, accented with a steady array of malt, hop, and grain detail bringing forth some of the subtleties seen in the best of the style; some edges are still present and the profile isn't entirely dialed-in, though this still doesn't derail the otherwise clean, composed overall structure of this one.
