New England-Style Double India Pale Ale brewed with Peaches, Lactose and Vanilla. We took our double IPA recipe - with its "boatload" of Citra and Centennial hops from the Pacific Northwest - and further enhanced the flavors, aromas and body with the addition of peaches, lactose (milk sugar) and Madagascar vanilla beans.

5/5/19 (Chicago): $4.83 plus tax 16 oz 8.2% ABV can (no date on can) purchased at Beer on the Wall 4/18/19, poured into pint glass. Hazy orange juice pour, heavy puffy head dissipates quickly leaving marginal white lacing. Citrus hops aroma, backed by light lactose. Light taste, citrus hops and creamy vanilla, did not taste the peach. Carbonation holds, creamy sweet mouth feel, light texture, easy drinking. Overall good NE IPA.

Released 4/18/19; drank 4/21/19 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque orange/yellow appearance.
A violent pour yielded a nice white head; strong, frothy lace.
Orange citrus, mild cream, mild peach & faint dry grass notes in the nose.
Creamy, medium thick mouthfeel.
Orange creme, mild peach & faint dry grass flavors; some booze heat emerged as this warmed.
A bit too sweet, even for the style, and a bit too boozy. Not one I'll look out for.

Interesting beer. Weak orange color, haziness is probably caused by the insane amount of particulates floating in it. Strong peach notes and citrusy hop scents. Medium hop body and flavors, tart peach and sweet vanilla all work well together for a tasty flavor profile. Mildly dry finish, full mouth feel, bold, sweet, hoppy, fruity, real winner.

Pours a matte orange color. Completely opaque and "juicy" in appearance. Thick four finger white head collapses inward leaving a ring of white foam along the outside of the beer.
Aroma is a pungent array of peach, mango, orange, and some astringent hop aromas. Hints of sugary sweet lactose peep through on the nose.
Taste follows the nose with notes of strong notes of peach, mango, and hints of pineapple and orange. Strong vanilla and lactose notes come through. There is a lot of sweetness to this beer - just lots of unfermented sugars almost fruit juice like in this beer. The vanilla doesn't help since it registers as adding to the sweetness.
Feel is spritzy with lots of carbonation providing a prickly mouthfeel. Medium to full bodied for the style.
This is a well done beer for the style - its just a style that is so cloyingly sweet, I can only drink it once in a while. As far as these milkshake variations on the NE style go, Energy City makes the best local options that I've had.

Appearance: Hazy & opaque yellow orange body with bone white head.
Smell: Peaches & cream, citrus/mostly orange hop profile.
Taste: citrus forward hops with a hint of peach, pineapple, and vanilla. Hint of oats as well.
Mouthfeel: moderately thick body. Moderate carbonation level. Soft and creamy on the palate. Not a hint of the 8% ABV.
Overall: probably my favorite energy city beer so far. Not huge on milkshake IPA style, but I enjoy this Energy city brew quite a bit.

16oz can, shared with my wife. A thinner foamy off-white head caps a hazed peach colored ale. Big peachy aroma, vanilla and tropical fruit in there too. Flavors are intriguing and quite delicious with juicy peach front and center, along with mango, pineapple, vanilla, cream, passion fruit, and a hint of pine on the finish. Fuller creamy body, a bit tart/zesty, modestly bitter end. If you like peach in your beer, this is a go-to. For me, this was good but I doubt I'll get it again.

16oz can poured into stemless white wine glass
The pour is dark yellow, with a full white head. Zero visibility through this. Nose is overly ripened peach, apricot, and melon. Almost to the point of souring, but still juicy. Taste has a lot of peach, for sure. Low bitterness with mild oat flavor. Juicy burst with hops lightly tingling after. Super smooth.

On tap at The Beer Temple. Kegged 10/1/18 and tasted that fresh.
A good Looker from a murky style. Almost pungent fruits (tropicals and peaches) are most the Smells. Malts, hops, lactose and vanilla all come together nicely in the mouth. I typically am not a fan of IPAs, but this was particularly good. It may have been my first NE IPA with lactose. Maybe that made my rating well above average for my malt-head tendencies.
Energy City has a cool looking website also. I may not get out to Batavia, but I certainly wish them well.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a one pint can on October 5, 2018. Brewed with a boatload of Citra and Centennial hops with peaches, lactose and vanilla beans.
