This Pilsner is true to its name. A nice, soft, grainy, flavorful brew that screams Canadian summer barbecues. Although I’m a lover of more complex beers I’d like to dabble a little more into lagers again. Sometimes simple can be good. This is a good start.

Pours light straw colour with a large soapy-like head. The taste is classic Pilsner, bready, a bit bitter, reminds me of a Euro lager/Pilsner. Mouthfeel is a bit thin. I love the vibe and subject matter of this beer though

Tallboy from the LCBO; dated Oct 8 2019 and served barely chilled. I've had a few cans of this over the past couple of months, and have been left with a generally positive impression.

Pours relatively clear, with a pale golden coloured body that is initially crowned with an inch of soapy, foamy white head that recedes within the better part of five minutes. A frothy collar surrounds a few filmy islets upon the surface, with decent lace deposition; looks like a fine lager to me. Clean aroma, with hints of lemon and grassy, floral hops accenting a lightly grainy malt backbone.

Not bad at all - this brew keeps things clean and simple, tasting mostly of grainy, bready malts and a light doughy sweetness at the forefront. Notes of lemony, floral hops and a slight grassy bitterness tie up the back end appropriately enough, with grainy sweetness and a grassy, lemony note lingering into an aftertaste that fades quickly. Light in body, with middling carbonation levels that gently agitate the surface of the palate; feels smooth and a little soft on the tongue. A bit more bite from the carb might help, but this is otherwise a highly sessionable pils that I'm not inclined to complain too much about.

Final Grade: 3.81, a B+. Sons of Kent has yet to disappoint me, and Fergie's Classic Pilsner might just represent one of their best efforts to date. Czech pilseners are one of my most consumed styles, as I drink a fair bit of Czechvar and PU - so I feel confident saying that this is a pretty good domestic interpretation, one which I'd put more or less on par with those imported standbys. It's a beer I'm sure I'll return to again - if you enjoy Euro lagers then Fergie's is worth taking a flyer on.

This one-off beer from Sons of Kent has hit it out of the park. Sons os known for making a range of craft brews with extreme flavours but his beer should be a classic on their taps. A golden pilsner with a sweet smell and malty sweet taste.

Fergie's Classic Pilsner is that beer that you can pair with anything. Brewed to honour a legend, and supports a good cause.
