look: 3.75 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 4
Appearance: Poured with a finger of head that retained well enough but barely laced. The body is a completely opaque black so nothing more can be gleaned from it.

Smell: Vanilla is the dominant note here, with touches of oak and mild smoke in the background, did need a bit of warming to come out, and the potency could be a bit better, but it's still solid stuff.

Taste: Without a doubt Vanilla is the dominant note that permeates the beer, as it begins with a flavor reminiscent of a malt vanilla milkshake, then as it turns more of the bourbon takes over giving sweet oak, whisky and touches of milk chocolate. I'm honestly surprised this isn't a milk stout with how sweet it is and that I seem to be getting dairy notes from it.

Mouthfeel: Points get deducted for the lack of head, but that's not the...well Mammoth in the room. This stuff is thick, the the point I'm wondering if I should be chewing it. It has an impossible to not to notice, slightly thicker then melted ice cream vibe to it. The carbonation does start to run it's course around the half way mark, which further contributes to the effect. Transitioning is solid here and the aftertaste is a strong vanilla sweet whisky note that clings just a bit too much.

Drinkability: I'm honestly at points wondering if I should be chewing it's so thick, and as expected with a stout this, well...again...Mammoth, it drinks like a meal. Lower carbonation makes it settle down as well as it can, but this stuff is outright filling. This is certainly a rare treat of a stout because I could not drink this all night, but seemingly by design.

Final Thoughts: If you didn't get the impression, I feel this stout is very aptly named. This is a big ol' lumbering beast of a beer. I was hoping to squeeze one more beer in to get me to 100 beers this year, but that's going to have to wait till tomorrow. I'll say this, I've had better big Imperial stouts, but I don't think I've had one quite as filling and...well big. It's a damn good beer, but be sure you have an empty stomach before you take down this Mammoth.
