473 mL can from the LCBO; best before Aug 2 2021 and served barely chilled.
Pours a turbid purplish-red colour, topped with more than a finger of puffy, pink-tinged head that melts off within two minutes' time. A few strands and specks of lace are scattered about in its wake, with a thin collar being the only other remnant of note - looks as you'd expect for a 'berry sour'. Lots of blueberry and raspberry on the nose, with lesser hints of lactic acidity, blackberry and maybe a hint of cherry yogurt.
It's a decent fruit sour, with no particular emphasis on the 'sour' part. There're hints of grainy malts underneath, and the lemony yogurt lactic acidity is present throughout the sip... but the berries steamroll everything else. The raspberry especially, though the blueberry and blackberry also provide discernible contributions nearer the back end. Lingering hints of berry and lactic sourness into the aftertaste, which fade after a moment or two; off-dry with a touch of berry skin/seed astringency. Light-medium in body, with low carbonation that softly prickles the surface of the palate, giving a little bit of crispness to its soft, juice-like mouthfeel. I rarely drink fruity stuff en masse, but I doubt I'd have any issues tossing a couple of these back.
Final Grade: 3.79, a B+. Triple Berry Hi-Fi is a fairly good berry sour - hardly the first of its kind in Ontario, but it's a well-enough rendered example that measures up adequately against its local competition. Neither particularly sweet nor sour, the berries shine through nicely, and the modest lactic punch makes for a fine, tart, fruity refresher. It's not that much unlike Railway City's Steampunk, though I'd need to try them side-by-side to see which one I actually prefer (something I plan to do ASAP).
