473 mL can from the brewery; dated 04/07/2024 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a clear pale golden-yellow colour, featuring over an inch of lumpy, foamy white head that dissipates within a matter of minutes. Its remnants include a frothy collar and a few wisps on the surface, with strands of lace clinging to the glass after every sip. I am mostly getting grainy cereal sweetness on the nose, with hints of brown bread, herbal/grassy hops and earthiness.

A plain yet passable lagered ale. A little on the sweet side initially, with flavours of bready malt, corn flakes and doughiness eventually joined by hints of grassy, herbal hops. Grainy finish with a cereal sweetness that persists briefly into the aftertaste. Light in body, with assertive carbonation that adds a firm bite to this ale's smooth, satisfying mouthfeel. Easy to toss back, but otherwise unremarkable.

Final Grade: 3.59, a B grade. There are significantly better Ontario lagered ales available than 873 Game Beast, but at least purchasing this one contributes to a worthy cause. It's basically comparable to a blonde ale in most respects: a little sweet and generally malt forward, with a lager-like mouthfeel that improves its drinkability to an extent. One of those beers that I could drink easily and without complaint, but don't see myself revisiting with much frequency.
