12oz can. No dating information found.
Cloudy, pale gold colored body. One finger of white head, and this results in a thin cap and ring. Minor lacing with small spots.
Aroma of lemon, lime, earthy funk, fresh baked bread, and green melon.
Taste is lemon, lime, earthy and grassy funk. Minor flavors of orange, green apple, and coriander.
More than medium mouthfeel. Dry finish. Very good carbonation, with effervescence.
Solid farmhouse ale with complexity, and a good expression of yeast.

375 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2019 vintage. Pours slightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 2-3 finger fairly foamy and fluffy white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big lemon, lime, orange, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, melon, apricot, red apple, white grape/wine, coriander, peppercorn, clove, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, and lightly toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of banana, bubblegum, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, pale/wheat malts, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with big strength. Taste of big lemon, lime, orange, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, melon, apricot, red apple, white grape/wine, coriander, peppercorn, clove, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, and lightly toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of banana, bubblegum, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate peppery yeast spiciness; herbal, floral, woody, grassy bitterness; and light wheat tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, lime, orange, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, melon, apricot, red apple, white grape/wine, coriander, peppercorn, clove, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, biscuit, banana, bubblegum, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale/wheat malts, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with an awesome malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and no astringent flavors after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness and carbonation. High carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 6.5%. Overall this is a fantastic saison. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale/wheat malts, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and pretty refreshing to drink with the moderately bitter/spicy/drying finish. Nicely soft feel for the style. Amazingly well rounded classic Saison yeast complexity; with a great clean pale/wheat malt backbone, and nice earthy hop presence. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp drying. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on classic tasting style example. Reminds me of Saison Dupont a lot.

A: Pours up with a creamy, smooth three finger head, and an only slightly hazy, straw yellow body, good retention.
S: Immediate white grape, which is quite dominant, followed by some biscuit and some slightly herbal hop notes, I wish this beers nose was a tad more balanced
T: Tart, biscuity, and lemony right away, with a slight bitterness, there are some hints barnyard flavor and a slightly earthy minerality coming through and a subtle sweetness, with some of the white grape hinted at in the nose.
M: Perfectly dry.
O: A very nice middle ground between something like a saison dupont and the brettier, more sour examples of the style. This will be my 74th saison to do a written review of, so if there is any style I'm an expert on it would be this one, and I would compare this to some of the offerings made by Oxbow Brewing. Though I think I was more wowed by their example of a Biere de garde that I reviewed yesterday, that's mainly because far more people get that style wrong than mess up or cheapen the meaning of BDG than saison, this is a very nice, very pleasant example of the style and one that if I lived in Michigan (I don't) I would keep in my fridge. Barrel + Beam are 2 for 2 with me.
