Pours a viscous, jet-black body crawling into the glass without teasing so much as a hint of effervescence/foam, leaving only a few specks of particulate at the surface and some foggy legs fading quickly around the walls of the glass.
Aroma highlights a resounding Peanut Buster parfait overtone, deconstructing lesser threads of nougat, dried peanuts over time as a predominant dark chocolate maintains across the bouquet, with shreds of bourbon barrel interspersed throughout.
Taste opens with immediate impressions of dark chocolate and a tinge of wet bourbon barrel, followed by lush, fluffy vanilla melding to a general nutty overtone for a Peanut Buster parfait peak over the mid-palate and into the back end, where 100% dark chocolate and dried peanuts linger through the finish.
Mouthfeel presents a slick, medium body with virtually no carbonation, paradoxically dense yet thinning into a creamy, slight char and flattening to a mild boozy warmth as syrupy textures are cut by a firmer, oily density and pseudo-dryness on the finish.
The bluntly evocative nature of a pastry stout finds a balancing, albeit sweeter roast through chocolate additions, a marriage to the barrel/spirit which, too, are minimal, offers just enough to veer the profile from entirely saccharine territory; a layered yet approachable dessert stout.
