Tallboy from the LCBO; dated Jul 24 2018 and served barely chilled. Desperately trying to work my way through a backlog of beers from late summer before the end of the year.

Pours a clear, brassy golden colour; looks highly effervescent, with about an inch of smooth, creamy, resilient white head that slowly degrades. A fat, foamy collar surrounds a luscious cap about a half cm thick, with quite a bit of lacing also have been left in its wake - looks very attractive in the glass. The nose includes some pungent lemongrass, as well as suggestions of lemony citrus oil and peppery spiciness; the beer's backbone itself is less easily discerned, consisting of some grainy, wheaty malt and butterscotch sweetness, as well as a touch of grassy, floral hops.

Hrm... it tastes alright, I suppose, with notes of cereal grain, wheaty bread and faint butterscotch sweetness serving as the backdrop, and herbal lemongrass character carrying most of the rest of the load. There's a light spicy quality to the middle of the profile, with notes of lemon oil, light pepperiness and fragrant flowers - which of these are due to the hops or the lemongrass, I cannot say with any certainty. The sip concludes with some more herbal lemongrass spiciness that soon fades into a . Relatively light in body; it has assertive, prickly carbonation at first, but softens significantly as you make your way through the glass, resulting in a much smoother texture over time. Still quite refreshing.

Final Grade: 3.6, a B grade. I enjoyed a can of Silly Sir's Easy Tiger back in August, and I'm enjoying this serving to about the same extent - it's good, but not great. If it weren't for the lemongrass, this would be a totally anonymous pale ale that I would have a difficult time recommending... but thankfully, the lemongrass is there, and it provides just enough novelty to turn an otherwise forgettable brew into a reasonably serviceable and refreshing tipple. I'll keep this one in mind for next summer, as I suspect it would really hit the spot on a sweaty afternoon after mowing the lawn.

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. An LCBO purchase for around $3.20 CDN. Canned G2418, I suspect this was end of July.

Appearance - A mostly clear dark copper colored brew with a finger plus of creamy and dense white head. Medium staying power a small film of foam lingers for a a good duration.

Smell - Fairly malty some buttery aromas and a hint of herbal and floral aromas. I guess it's lemongrass and I also gets subtle lavender and coconut undertones. The buttery malt is most dominant.

Taste - Some caramel, buttery grain with lavender and lemongrass coming through stronger with repeated sips. Not something i really enjoy the flavor of, but it is well excuted here.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, a little creamy, moderate carbonation and average finish.

Overall - An interesting little beer, the lemongrass and floral flavors do actually shine through more and more as you drink the beer. Worth trying at least once for the novelty factor.

Unique. Very lemony, but not like a shandy. Perfumey.

Gold body, chill haze, big and thick egg white head, retention for days.
Fragrant and herbaceous aroma, rose water.
Unfortunately the first thing I notice is that it's on the flat side, and not as refreshing as I'd hoped. Medium body, a touch cloying from sugars and bready malts. Actually tastes more like a lager to me, with a slight sense of the herbal, floral notes from the smell. Lemon doesn't really come through.

The idea of it seemed interesting, but the reality falls flat. Skippable.
