English Coffee Pale Ale – There are thousands of coffee stouts and porters out there. Roasted malt and roasted coffee is a delicious combination, but sometimes we want a beer that shows off the varietal notes of a coffee without over-accentuating the roast. This beer pairs a light-roast coffee with a twist of orange zest. The fresh fruit and light hopping accentuate the citrusy coffee rather than the char for a coffee beer that is down-right refreshing!

(16 oz can, 04/24/23 zest trimmer; purchased cold single at the brewery last week... poured into my Belhaven pub pint)
L: yellow-gold liquid with a very mild powder haze; the little bit of foam that form couldn't hold... unattractive
S: non-descript yeast blonde ale with a hint of coffee... pils malt, floury cookie, sultana and/or orangy marmalade
T: the English yeast character really leaps out upon first sip... very bready, very grains-outta-bag malty, with I'm sure the coffee (subtle as it is) greatly accenting the toasted, nutty characters of the malt and yeast, respectively... the aftertaste is more overtly fruity and coffee-like, though that roast eventually collects on the palate, getting an almost earthy-grassy edge to it... not terribly bitter or acidic; little overt hop character; static layers of toast and roast
F: smooth-bodied, but with flat contours; subtly smoky in the aft... clean, satisfying drinking, but nothing in those lingering embers that is reminiscent of an English pale
O: not a conventional English pale ale, however, quite characterful and enjoyable... I don't care what they say, this fits more into the American Blonde category, 'American' meaning tossing extra junk in something to get a flavor pop, 'Blonde' because look at it, taste it (2216)

Pours a very nice vibrant golden color with a slight head and lacing
Aroma has generous coffee and orange zest hints
The taste follows the nose with a well balanced coffee and orange zest flavor
A medium bodied well carbonated beer
A good refreshing English Pale Ale

16 ounce can poured into a tulip pint glass.
Canned 4/24/23
L: Orangish-yellow, translucent hazy, 2 finger white fizzy head disappears in less than 30 seconds, some suspended sediment, a little lackluster.
S: Fairly strong nose, roast coffee, orange, coffee and cream.
T: Opens malty with coffee flavor, then orange zest and tea-like flavors over pale malt and herbal hops.
F: Light body, medium carbonation, kind of a neutral feel, chewy with some light astringency.
O: Mediocre, but is as advertised.
