Triple IPA DDH with Simcoe and Simcoe Cryo

Simcoe just might be our favorite hop! We've showcased it in pale ales, IPAs, DIPAs, and finally this Triple IPA! It's our biggest, boldest, Simcoe-iest expression ever. We get candied mango, orange popsicle, and fresh pine sap all thanks to the classic Pacific Northwest hop variety.

(16 oz can, canned on 08/09/23; purchased cold single at the brewery last week of Aug... poured into my Sapwood wine glass)

L: murky honey gold liquid; dirty snow white solid foam... maybe due to the abv, little head retention or lacing, leaving the murk to shine(?!)

S: pineapple, pine flowers, hints of passionfruit, orange gummy slices, Mimosa cocktail (boozy note)... mango develops by the second and final (top-off) pour, of course, once the senses are stunned... grassy like rum from cane sugar, a diapery tone as well that fades in and out with the herbal (spicy greens) hop mush; altogether intense

T: sort of an oatmeal cookie malt pop up front, drowning in fresh-squeezed citruses, immediately followed by a rush of funky tropical fruit cocktail, almost pulpy in its flavor expression and intensities... the most lasting, lingering flavors are crushed (and juiced) orange pith and pine memories... that doughy note at the front just won't die down sip to sip, as potent each time and just lounging at the front floor of the palate while the high-intensity noise hums at the top and back... by the end, screwdriver and dry pancake

F: rather silky medium bodied viscosity, but cut with a strident boozy bitter bite on the back end; for once, an agricultural and alcoholic counterpoint to balance the sludge of DDH nectar... silk and sedatives

O: as impressive in the can as it was on tap the day I bought it there; my favorite beer I've had from them... wish I bought more; hopefully they'll have more in a week when I visit again! (2225)
