Served in a cervoise at the West Dundee brewpub.
Finishing up my midday visit to West Dundee with a bit of saison action. It pours a clear brass topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises mild wheat, light grass, and a twinge of lightly-funky Belgian yeast. The taste brings in more of the same, with more grass, some banana peel, and a strong vein of sourdough (emphasis on the sour) pervading the near-finish. The body is a light medium, with a moderate carbonation and a drying finish. Overall, a decent enough saison, but that weird sourdough note ruins things for me. Man, the Belgians haven't been pouring too well here lately...

64oz growler shared, filled the day before consumption.
A: Pours a murky yellow body, with an increasing head formation. The head is pale white and has good retention. The level of carbonation looks to be a bit low, lacing is low as well.
S: The aroma is that of fresh fruit, lemon and clove. Intensity is at a medium level. Warm spicy undertones.
T/M: Body is on the thicker end for the style, with a full flavor and texture as well. The spice notes are well played and blend nicely with the rest of the beers elements.
O: Overall this is a fine beer and has been very enjoyable. As for style, it doesn't replicate it exactly, but is a very nice offering.
