July 2017: Keg halfpint at Fealty’s Bar, Bangor. ABV 5.5%. Despite ordering only a halfpint, I was offered a free sample first: "It’s not for everybody". Deep golden colour, white head. Moderate aroma, some citrus. Dry flavour with plenty of Citra hops, good bitterness.

Okay, I've had Guinness' golden ale last night and it scarred me. I have to admit, I've had prejudices with this next one coming from the very same company. Oh boy, I was wrong.
Bear in mind, this beer needs to be decanted so it can show its gorgeous complexity, also it should be served closer to room temperature (15 degrees Celsius seems to be ideal) than an average beer.
Top: it forms a medium lasting generously thick (1-2"), white head. Looks really good.
Colour: crystal clear dark amber, again, it looks just sweet.
Smell: before decanting: citrus overload.
After 5 minutes of decanting it shows its unreal complexity, figs, sweet raisins, marshmallows, biscuits with a hint of vanilla bourbon and malts. It is well beyond expectations. Funny enough, no citrus tones after decanting. As it gets closer to room temperature, the more details it uncovers.
Taste: before decanting and chilled: citrus, some hop bitterness and that's it. Nice, but not much complexity.
After decanting: exotic fruits, lime, sweet maltiness, very moderated bitterness with a hint of champagne and cognac. Super complex taste. Very slight alcohol tones in the background, which is surprising from a 5% ABV beer, normally it comes from 6.5% as I know from experience. The mouthfeel is very solid, leaves a dry-semi dry finish.
The carbonation is on the lighter side, but it fits the character.
Summary: it's an actual surprise from the Open Gate Brewery (Guinness), I mean I've never expected this being so good. It's more than that, I should've said excellent.
Leave 5 minutes of time to enjoy how it changes its character and be amazed. Do not overchill, otherwise you'll only see an average citric IPA. I've had it from a red wine glass, it helped a lot to enjoy all the carnival of delicious smells. I swear I had fun while trying to figure out what different aromas it would show me the next sip.
Definitely will have again, an absolutely gorgeous and interesting beer.

The best beer on tap at the Sweet Afton in Belfast.
Deep gold in color with brilliant clarity and a bubbly white head that persists. Light citrus and tropical fruits against a bready maltiness.

Nice creamy head great lacing, clear honey blond color
Nose big hops, grassy herbal floral, big citrus, candied orange, apricot puree, sweet malt candied dried fruit, dried mango
Taste sweet malt, candy again brings the big hops, candied mango, apricot and orange puree marmalade, sweet flowery floral hibiscus like, little sticky finish, fair bitterness
Mouth is med bod, decent carb, little sticky sweet
Overall very nice for a citra IPA brewed in Ireland
