-Imperial fruited Saison ale with pineapple, curuba and naranjilla at 10%.
A: Thick and hazy pineapple-orange pour is both bright and vibrant upon the exit from the bottle, and is murky and dense as pea soup in the vessel. The coloring is reminds me of a gold bar, almost fluorescent in nature, glowing in the glass. A buff three inch colored head sits atop and is creamy but firm in nature and stance. A great deal of effervesce erupts within bringing the visual to life. Again it is the coloring that strikes and holds my attention the most, as well the murky porridge like clarity, a glassy orange juice/gold bar brightness full of protein and juicy haze that some may find unsettling, I just find more attractive. A monster film lacing smothers the glass walls.
S: Sour fruitiness of peaches and pineapple, a dank tropical delight along with some apricot. There is a bit of banana hefeweizen in there as well some lime accents and sour apple. Quite an odd combination, though blends rather well together if I do say so myself. The overall strength was moderate, no real indication of its 10%abv as of yet.
T: Sour peaches and pineapple mimic the nose, dank tropical flavors, but very smooth. Fresh banana, sour apple and apricot fruitiness interjects while a sour tropical twang rounds off on the tongue. Some kiwi-strawberry and a finisher of wet lime rounds out as well perhaps some passion fruit.
M: Creamy milky thick mouthful, lactose fueled, oh so much protein. Its liquid bread and a rare 5.0 from me.
O: Overall its a very rare occasion when I award a five from any category, let alone two in a single rating. I am a sucker for the thick lactose haze, murkiness and brightly tropical coloring that comes with a many newer beers these days, and not just limited to the new england ipa styles it seems. Its not everybody's cup of tea, but mine. The mouthful is liquid bread, exceptional, full, firm and sturdy with a creaminess all day. An sour twang of dank tropical delight smoothie with a manageable 10% abv makes for an exceptional drinker with innovative qualities and a massive build and appeal. A great first impression, visual that extends into the mouthful, wide spectrum of flavors and a unique combination that I can go on and on about. For hardcore lovers of saisons and hazy lactose ipa fans that don't mind a deviation from style to enjoy a blend of big flavors and mouthful with a soothin sour twang.
