Christmas Burns Red is influenced by the incredibly flavorful & crushable European Lagers that ABR experiences when touring overseas; but with a subtle American twist. It starts with the finest German Pilsner Malt, a brand new American hop called Dolcita, our über-soft well water and our preferred lager yeast strain.
Christmas Burns Red is ultra crisp & clean with notes of orange blossom honey, crackery European malt & Georgia peaches. This version of Christmas Burns Red is slightly different than the one we brewed back in 2021, and we couldn't be happier with the result!

16oz can purchased as a single from the fridge for approximately $5. No canned on date. From Instragram, this was released on December 3, 2025 so it's almost six months old.
Look: It has lively carbonation, lots of small bubbles. The color is between straw and pale gold, and it has a soft haze. The head retention is minimal - a very short white frothy head is being maintained. Looks nice.
Smell: Up front, the aromas are bright. I'm getting some lemony notes and also white grape vibes. There's like a grassy, spiciness also. It smells very inviting.
Taste: First off, it's super crushable. The notes are similar to the nose. Up front, it has a crackery and crispy malt. The finish has bright, citrusy, fruity notes. I get lemon zest and green grape notes. It's refreshing, dry, and mildly bitter. It has a nice acidity that makes it very drinkable. The finish is interesting and I think that this is characteristic of the Dolcita hop. It's kind of grassy and almost minty, but not quite. It's hard to describe. Definitely interesting, different, and tasty.
Feel: It's crisp. Light to medium bodied. Nicely carbonated.
Overall: It's tasty. Elder Pine knows what they are doing. Another solid beer. This one is a crusher. It was brewed in the wintertime but it's very good for the warmer months.
Note that this year's version is 4.7% ABV

16 oz can, no date. I now realize this was probably brewed around Christmas, but it was bought from a store that keeps stuff refrigerated so hopefully it's not too much worse for wear
light golden in color, big white head. good head retention. I actually thought this was going to be a red lager based on the name and the label only saying "Lager". Aroma and flavor is pale malts and earthy hops. thinner bodied, easy drinking

Appearance:
Run-of-the-mill beer yellow, made exceptional by its total and absolute clearness. Zero haze, nary an errant bubble to mar the view. If not for the curvature of the glass I’d poured it in, I could watch TV through it without losing much clarity. The head is a half finger of pure white foam that boasts prolonged retention. Laces in a slippery, soapy curtain.
Bouquet:
Mild pilsner malts and room temp white bread, so another atypical quality of humdrum beers has revealed itself—only minus (thank God) that pungent, sulfur scent mass produced lagers possess.
Feel:
Light bodied, easy-drinkin, mid-range carbonation. A no-frills linger of beer-soaked bread beneath a surge of carbonation.
Taste:
Welp… three for three at this point. It’s a stock lager that accidentally elbowed some old, decrepit hops on its way to get canned. Demurely bready malts and a fleeting spritz of Noble hops (these impart the utmost paltry pinch of earth spiciness native to the aftertaste in most classic, German lagers). A few microns of black pepper can be detected, if your palate is capable of observations at the subatomic level.
Overall:
Heavy on the lager, easy on the hop. For something which advertises as a hopped Christmas lager, I’d expected to find elements of either hops or Christmas within. Alas…
For all my nagging, I LIKED this beer. Its not terribly memorable but I did enjoy it from start to finish.
