A very thin, dark walnut halo forms within this otherwise black Stout. A thick, syrupy film eventually produces legs. Fine cinnamon dust is visible within the film as it clings to a Swiftwater snifter.
French coffee crumb cake immediately comes to mind as the glass rises toward the nose. Chocolate fudge and cinnamon are harbingers of intense sweetness to come.
Oh yeah! This is sweet and makes my teeth ring. The malt attempts to show itself underneath the cinnamon and coffee cake. The cinnamon leads chocolate, vanilla, and caramel to a long, sweet finish.
It has a full, almost dense body with an unsurprisingly syrupy texture. Slight carbonation struggles to provide a prickly effect. The alcohol is far below expectation, perhaps overpowered by the sweetness and texture.
Mortalis has a reputation for producing definitively sweet dessert beers. I suggest cutting the sweetness of this beer with German Chocolate Cake, Boston Cream Pie, or Chorizos. I am enjoying this on a cold, bright, sunny afternoon with aged Gouda, which works well, but the beer really does deserve to be accompanied by sweetness, not savoriness.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like cinnamon candy, coffee cake, chocolate syrup, and roast.
This beer has a nice and well-restrained use of cinnamon, as there's no cinammon added other than what's in the coffee cakes. It's sweet, candied, and decadent, with sweet milk chocolate, a touch of roast, and a great sweet and spicy character.
This is medium bodied, sweet, creamy, and very drinkable, with no real booziness.
I wasn't sure how I'd like this one, but it worked very well for me.

5 oz pour on tap at Embark Craft Ciderworks. Pours pitch black with a moderate tan head. Smells like sickly sweet Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Taste is similar but despite being VERY sweet it is not undrinkably cloying. An interesting and tasty beer.
