This Imperial Stout starts with a thick chocolate base. Then, we conditioned the beer on marshmallow, vanilla, hazelnuts, coffee, and toasted coconut. Brewed in collaboration with the Buffalo Beer Geeks for the CollaBEERation Festival.

Poured from a 500mL bottle into a Mikerphone tumbler. Pours a thick black with minimal dark brown foam head that’s quick to fade away. I get chocolate and cinnamon mostly on the nose. Some hazelnut as it warms. Zero coconut in smell or taste. Not sure where the cinnamon is coming from but again, I get mostly chocolate and cinnamon in the taste. A little hazelnut in the finish. Not bad. Medium-full mouthfeel. Solid but maybe too much going on as far as the flavor additives.

Better than I expected. Notes of oak barrel, marshmallow, vanilla, hazelnuts, coffee, and toasted coconut. Alcohol does come through, but it’s not overpowering.

Grabbed at bottle at Mortalis a few months ago. Cellared for a very short bit and jumped into trying based on reviews.
First, completely agree with others VERY hazelnut forward, ok but which initially pushed me off. Very dessert like with its sweetness, which also was made me me think it was a one off for those who like sweet hazelnut flavored drinks/ food.
Drank about half bottle and put remainder aside.
But tried again next day and gave another try.
Was extremely impressed with richness of flavor and silky smoothness. The chocolate and marshmallow really came through. The coconut also stood out but merged beautifully into the mix. Made me think about Bottle Logic, Cycle, Angry Chair, Perennial and other recent visits I took pre-Covid. Then realized this was as good or better than these other more renowned breweries.
Bottom line ... a fragrant, flavorful, smooth dessert stout that rivals anybody doing same.
Hazelnut /other flavors worked very well for me, but understand may not be for others. Regardless, this is a masterful brew and clearly indicates Mortalis brewers definitely are worth paying attention to.
Major kudos.

Sweet milk chocolate, marshmallow-vanilla, hazelnut coffee, and hint of coconut nose on this one! Taste follows with a sweet, sweet, chocolate marshmallow, hazelnut vanilla latte, and coconut finish. Yowza! So tasty! As it warms, all the notes come out to play more and work well together! The marshmallow-vanilla vibe enhances the mouthfeel and it feels more soft on the palate than viscous. I mean, this is very well balanced and would be an all-timer for me if it wasn't so darn sweet...This is great!

Carbonated chocolate syrup with hazelnut and coconut. The coffee really emerges as it approaches room temperature, so choose a serving temp according to your own preferences. Extremely thick and slurpable for 10% ABV. Maybe the marshmallow is a bit of a thickening agent? I'm not sure how it works.

Jet black body with a thin brown ring. Hazelnut is huge in nose with coconut, vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Taste has that hazelnut brittle or wafer that is elevated with chocolate and coffee, finished by marshmallow and with a kiss of graham cracker. Feel is thick and close to syrupy but not super heavy so it makes it drinkable. A dessert stout for sure, but well done

Full disclosure-this stout is very sweet! But...if you like a sweet stout, it is excellent. The hazelnut comes through almost as peanut butter. The marshmallow is there to add a little fluff and the vanilla and coconut also play a starring role. This is a wonderful dessert stout. If you can score a bottle, go for it. Mortalis does it up right with this one!

A: Oily, midnight black pour. A foamy golden-khaki head audibly fizzles away with a staticky crackle.
S: Mallomars, rich honey-caramel malts, golden grahams, chocolate malted waffle cone.
M: Thick, full and sticky, but with a prickling carbonation that forces a smacking of the lips if they can open.
T: Whew. It's sweet and sweet and dessert like, and I'm pretty sure that's the expectation. Butter toffee heath bars, extra rich midnight espresso ice cream doused in caramel syrup so the two are inseparable; a toasted coconut that while providing a hint of woodsy mint can't escape a brash samoa cookie comparison. A big beer with very sweet, but very well constructed flavors. Take your pick of coconut, s'more, etc. flavored creamer, add a shot of light roast and you have this beer.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like hazelnut coffee creamer, coconut, marshmallow, and chocolate syrup.
Mortalis stouts are always big and sweet, but this is almost over the edge. It's extremely sweet, and the marshmallow and the hazelnut dominate the proceedings, and add a sort of barista syrup sort of character to it. I don't get much overt coffee - just coffee fixins, basically. I get a touch of coconut, and lots of fudgy chocolate from the base stout.
This is is syrupy, and very thick bodied, with a lower level of carbonation.
This isn't my favorite Mortalis stout, due to the intense and nearly cloying sweetness. Nonetheless, it's still obviously very tasty.
