This Russian imperial stout is brewed using first runnings from two separate mashes and a 7 hour boil. Then, we conditioned the beer on a pound of Madagascar vanilla per barrel of beer. Heed the darkness and shadows.

Tastes like chocolate coffee. It’s too sweet for me, but an admirable stout!

This one pours a dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like creamy vanilla, tangy dark fruit, dark chocolate, a sort of dry herbal character, and roast.
This is one of the more restrained "pastry" stouts that Mortalis has done so far. There's lots of roast and dark fruit here, very clasically Russian Imperial Stout-ish. There's a mild vanilla character here - creamy, fruity, and slightly caramelly.
This is medium bodied, fairly creamy, and with no real booziness to it.
This is pretty unlike what I would have expected from Mortalis - seeing some balance here was nice.
