This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This one smells like rich sweet maple syrupy, cinnamon cereal, vanilla, caramel, fudge, and a little bit of oak.
I wish there was more barrel character on this one, to cut down the sweetness. It’s undeniably decadent and delicious, though. The maple adds most of the sweetness, but it tastes good. There’s the undeniable cinnamon toast crunch vibe here, with just a hint of cinnamon spice, melding decently well with the oak character. A heavier hit of spicy rye would have been good here. There’s lots of sweet milk chocolate and some vanilla and caramel as well.
This is thick, creamy, and very sweet, especially as it warms. There’s no real booziness here.
There’s too much added here to really let the barrel shine, and that’s a bit of a shame. But it’s still a tasty pastry stout.
