This Double IPA is hopped exclusively with Citra in the whirlpool and dry hop. The hazy soft base is completely saturated with intense citrus flavor. Wield the Thunderbolt like Zeus.

16 oz can
Pours an opaque light yellow color, white white head. Big pungent aroma of orange rind and grapefruit. Taste is similar but also has a zipper lime component. String bitter finish, a bit of hop burn as I drink. Softer mouthfeel.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a very hazy yellow-orange-straw color with a small head of white foam. The head fades rather fast leaving one with a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strong of a tangerine and tropical fruit smell of mango and pineapple, along with a bit of a bready and oat smell. At the same time there is a decent showing of herba and some floral notes, along with hints of crème and some smells of peach and apricot.
Taste – The tase begins with a malty and somewhat heavy bready and biscuit malt flavor mixed with some oat and some sweeter fruit notes of orange, tangerine and pineapple. At the same time there is a decent showing of grapefruit and herbal hop, both of which get a bit stronger as the taste advances. Toward the end of the taste there is a bit of mustiness and an increase in the malt, leaving one with a rather fresh hopped, but overly malty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – the body is thicker and chewier with a lower carbonation level. OK for the style, but for the abv would have liked it to be a bit more approachable.
Overall – I have decided I am not really a fan of Mortalis as everything they produce is very heavy on the palate. While they have a decent fresh hop taste, the over malt abundance with fruit and grain somewhat detracts from the hop flavors.

Arrived in a package from Half Time pretty much ambient temperature. Refrigerated immeadiatly and until served. Poured from a 16 oz undated to a bulbous, tulip-like glass.
The body is a milky light straw, approximately SRM 2.5. The head is quite white and the lacing is on the low side of medium.
Citrus and floral hit the nose. There is a background of funk, but it is not distracting.
Taste starts as sweet citrus but alcohol is prominent in the middle for a 6.5 ABV. The finish is very dry and bitter, almost puckeringly so. And that lasts for a good 20 seconds or more.
The mouthfeel is medium creamy and the carbonation is about right.
An interesting beer. I like a dry bitter finish, but this is so prominent that it's probably not for everyone.

Cloudy, somewhat whitewashed orange in color. Thick white head. Superb lacing. Nose is a mix of all the orange-like citrus fruits. Taste is well citrusy. Mouthfeel is very smooth. Not much bitterness on backend. Easy drinking especially considering the ABV, dangerously smooth.

Loaded with sweet citrus and mango on the nose. Flavors a bit more grassy and bitter, with a touch of malt on the back end. Mellows toward the finish, lingering with grapefruit and subtly floral hop character. Really good.

On tap at The Richmond in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a very hazy and murky golden orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This is delightfully and plainly citrusy on the nose – orange, tangerine, clementine, all of that.
This is doused with Citra – it’s definitely new school in the way this is super soft and completely murky, almost milky, but older school in the fact that you don’t really see single hop all Citra beers that much anymore. It’s done quite well and I think I like it better than Zeus.
This is soft, not at all boozy for the ABV, and very drinkable.
This hit the spot for me in a way that most NE-style IPAs rarely do these days.
