This Double IPA starts with a base of Citra and Mosaic hops. We then focused on highlighting Motueka in the heavy dry hop. The soft, pillowy body is met with lemon-lime character, stone fruit, and ripe tropical fruit flavors.

Uber hazy orange tinged yellow. Tropical hop aroma and flavor with lots of Motueka funk. Good balance with little to no bitterness; funk is not overpowering. Medium bodied and creamy smooth with a juicy finish.

No canning date
Appearance: Pours a completely cloudy (5% clarity) medium to pale orange/yellow color with a strong white head. SRM of 6-7. (4.00)
Aroma: Aromas of orange, orange juice, tangerine with some juicy pineapple and mango. (4.00)
Flavor: Flavors of orange, tangerine, pineapple, mango zest. C itrusy and zesty off the end. (4.00)
Feel: Medium to heavier body, appropriate, carbonation, finishes, zesty seat, and shows the alcohol a bit. (4.00)
Compared to Mortalis Persephone 3/26: Similar pour. Milder aromas. Less lime, strawberry, guava. More OJ, pineapple, mango zest.
Compared to Knotted Root Quite Profound 4/26: Pours similar. Milder aromas. More pineapple, mango. Less lime, blueberry. More sweet and less smooth. Winner: Knotted Root
Overall: Promising hop combo with the Citra/Mosaic base plus the Motueka. A lot of OJ here. Some pineapple and mango zest as well. Not quite as much mojito or lime as I expected from the Motueka. Shows the alcohol a bit is the only flaw. But it's Mortalis so it's still amazing. (4.10)

L - haze for daze, creamy head, decent lacing, with a residual ring at the top of the glass.
S - Aroma is of peach, diesel, and fruity floral hop rings. Really interesting.
T - Dense peach, petrolatum (in a good way), a little cat pee vibe, but mostly dense fruit, and foamy fruit. Quite tropical as it warms up.
F - Good balance, no give away that it's 8%. Good undertow on flavor, nice dryness in the end, really well brewed. Solid.
O - A great hazy that really showcases the tropical diesel that is Motueka.

On tap at Mortalis Brewing in Buffalo, NY.
This one pours a fairly hazy golden orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing is generally my jam, so this smells great – lots of candied lemon/lime sort of aromas, passionfruit, and peach.
This is just dripping with saturated hop juiciness – it’s quite good. Mortalis could win the award for most improved when it comes to their IPAs in the last few years. This is creamy, limey, peachy hop goodness, with so much in the way of tropical hop flavor.
This is creamy but light bodied, with a great drinkability.
I almost always want anything that has Motueka in it.
