First, this is a porter/stout. It came served in a clear pint glass drawn from a tap. It's as richly the darkest of brown and opaque as any. Neither the head, nor the glass lacing is impressive. The aroma is assertively chocolate, even above the roasted malt. The cherry input is almost missing to the nose and only barely sensed in the tasting. The more consumed the more the cherry is noticed, but it lags far behind the roasted malt and chocolate. Maybe it's a little thin for a desert stout, but it tastes good. Although the cherry flavor is faint, it must contribute, for this is more complex than just a chocolate stout. Not too sweet, but if that's what more cherry flavor would bring, it would be an agreeable trade off.

Moss Mill Brewing Co. "Cherry BonBon"
$3/4 oz. at the brewery on 14 April 2018
Notes: 4.7% ABV. Dark mahogany brown/black body beneath a short tan head that faded quickly. Dark chocolate in the nose with some additional cherry in the flavor. Medium bodied and gently crisp. Median bitterness with a dryish finish that suggests some roastiness. Overall OK. Nicely balanced. It could definitely use more cherry though, and probably more malt as well - or just a better name as "Cherry BonBon" implies something a little bit fuller. Still, worth trying.
