Almost a jet black body, tan head. Notes of roasted malt and coffee. Taste was strong, bitter roasted malts and coffee. Mouthfeel was appropriate for the style,... light oily film with medium body and carbonation. To me this was an overly roasted malt taste, bitter and almost a burnt taste.

From a 12 oz can dated 1/27/21 into a 7 oz tasting glass.
Pours darker and more black than old motor oil, lovely 1" tan head with some lacing.
Black coffee and a little booze in the nose.
An assertive espresso coffee and chinook hop bite in the forefront, pine, resin, lightly oily, bitter chocolate and hops in the attic at all times. It is fairly hoppy. Quite roasty but not burned. The booze in the nose does not come through in taste. Has a slightly heavy mouth feel, is rather stern at first but after 10-15 min being poured tannins soften/open up a wee bit. Very cool. It drinks like a 10.1%abv and is very enjoyable.
I think it's main feature is it's assertive battle betwix strong coffee and bitter chocolate- bitterness which is pervasive and really has staying power throughout the entire drinking experience. It is an excellent beer.
Keel down and sails up! This Imperial Stout has charted it's course will will sail no matter what. Cheers!
